Products/services: TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH bundles know-how for the automotive industry. Around 460 engineers and other specialists provide a wide spectrum of services around the world, including engineering, testing, consulting, training and international compliance management. Our engine and drive train test center in Munich is driving development in advanced technologies such as fuel cells and hydrogen technology. To meet safety criteria, vehicle electronic systems must be failure-tolerant despite their growing complexity. This is one of the topics engaging the attention of TÜV SÜD Automotive electronics specialists. Crash tests using the ECV (Electronically Controlled Vehicle) system on our own test track provide detailed data on the passive safety of cars, trucks and buses. Vehicles are powered by their own engines as they are guided precisely towards the obstacle. Patented technology for early warning of tire damage is another TÜV contribution to vehicle safety. Profile/competences
Core competencies
In the engine and driving mechanism test centre the development of the most modern future technologies like fuel cell driving mechanism, hydrogen propulsion and E-Mobility is enhanced. To fulfil the safety requirements in automotive electronics, an error-tolerant behaviour of the systems in spite of increasing complexity is required. The electronics experts of the safety standards authority TÜV SÜD Automotive deal with this subject. Crash tests with the help of the self-developed Electronically Controlled Vehicle (ECV) system on our own test area explain in detail the passive safety of passenger cars, coaches and trucks. Also the patented technology for the early detection of tyre damages further optimises vehicle safety in a continuous manner.
